People with STEM backgrounds have a lot they can contribute to their communities, whether that be using their STEM expertise to educate a policymaker, using their data literacy skills to contribute to a community effort, engaging in a STEM project with their community, and much, much more. However, it is often difficult to know how to get started being an involved civic participant. ESAL has educational tools available to bridge that gap, including an on-demand course (The Local Civic Engagement Toolkit) and workshops delivered to groups in-person or virtually.
