We are a dedicated group of volunteers working to help our fellow members of the STEM community more effectively engage with their local communities and governments. ESAL is looking for a volunteer to direct the multimedia and design work of ESAL’s communications and marketing. ESAL generates content through our web articles, events, and workshops and core to achieving our mission is encouraging broad engagement with these resources. If growing and managing a multimedia and design strategy for a small, high-impact organization sounds exciting, this might just be the right role for you!
As the ESAL Marketing & Design Director, you will:
- Oversee ESAL’s external communications and marketing products by:
- Working collaboratively with ESAL’s programmatic teams to prioritize graphic design and multimedia assets for the ESAL website, social media, and newsletter.
- Maintaining clear and efficient workflows and role expectations for marketing and communications team members to follow.
- Mentoring and supervising social media volunteers developing skills to reach a wider audience and invite more engagement with ESAL’s work.
- Mentoring and supervising multimedia volunteers in turning existing recorded content into informational and instructional video or audio featurettes.
- Mentoring and supervising graphic design volunteers to fulfill event, workshop, website, fundraising, and social media graphic design requests through Canva.
- Creating a collaborative and supportive team culture for social media, graphic design, and multimedia volunteers.
- Maintaining ESAL’s brand–ensure that consistent brand/voice is used across all of ESAL’s graphic, social media, and multimedia projects.
- Advise on other marketing and communications research and outreach needs and opportunities.
- Serve on ESAL’s Leadership Committee collaborating with Directors of other ESAL teams.
- Work remotely under the guidance of the Executive Director.
- Contribute ~10-15 hr/month of your time to do the above.
- Make at least a 6 month commitment to volunteering with ESAL.
