Local communities are at the forefront of policy implementation, which increasingly requires technical expertise to tackle a wide range of topics, such as energy, health, and misinformation. This provides a unique opportunity for scientists and engineers to make a tangible contribution to the policymaking process. However, the pathways to make an impact, including science policy career opportunities at the state, county, and city level, are often opaque and difficult to navigate. This session will feature individuals with STEM backgrounds who lead on local science policy issues in Colorado, providing participants with concrete examples and pathways to drive change in their communities.
